We found Ant in a buying trip to Germany very recently. He was out in a field, just grazing nd when we pulled up, he raised his head, pricked his ears, and then gave us the most astounding, floating trot that we've ever seen. Even though he wasn't officially for sale, we offered something that some people might call an offensive amount of money for him and in short order, he was on his way home with us. Ant is a large boy, though he has almost delicate features. He is remarkably mature for such a young age, and we were skeptical when his previous owners told us that he was ready to begin in the Grand Prix ring. I mean, what 9 year old is ready to show in the grand prix divisions? Sure enough, though, his first outing saw him give us two double clears and a blistering fast jump-off time. He's extraordinarily scopey and doesn't ever get close to anything. He's quick on the ground and one of the most agile warmbloods we've ever ridden; he literally turns on a dime. He's also very well broken: He collects and extends effortlessly and he seems able to anticipate his rider's instructions. When he came home, Beth lay her claim to him immediately. There's no way she's letting a junior rider bring this boy up the ranks; he's way too fun.
